Plan for the New Year

I can’t believe it is already 2014!  The past year went by so fast and each year seems to get faster and faster.  I know that is just perception but it sure seems like time has sped up.  I got busy in the last month of the 2013 and have been crazy busy in the first two weeks of this one.  And I realize that I have been neglectful with the blog here.  I decided that I am going to change things up a bit from here on.  So far most of the posts have been thought out and researched articles and I think this has kept the posting down because it takes a good bit more time for these.  I will continue to do these types of articles, but will be filling in with tips, recipes, fitness and fun stuff in between.

I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions per se but I did have some new things I wanted to start working on in December so I have made a promise to myself to up the physical activity this year.  I have been practicing yoga regularly for the last five months and now my body is starting to crave more exercise.  Yoga is my main focus and I am trying to do my best to do other workouts around my yoga practice so as not to take away from it.  I have been a gym sort of guy for a lot of my life but have taken a break from that over the last six months or so.  I need to get back to some resistance exercise and haven’t decided if I am just going to do bodyweight exercises for a while or if I will get back to the gym.  I’m going to mix some running and mountain biking in for a little cardio and get back to working on the core like I was last summer.

So far I have not been able to implement these new workouts.  As I mentioned the first two weeks of this year have been crazy.  I’m not beating myself up though as I have been eating very clean, keeping it close to 100% raw food, and have been practicing yoga at least 4 days a week.  And with this crazy schedule has come very simple food.  I have been living largely, almost entirely on fruit throughout the day.  A typical day consists of 15+ bananas, 32-64 oz of fresh orange juice, a smoothie or 2 and maybe a papaya to mix it up.  The evening meal is mostly green soup, but I occasionally mix it up with a salad.  This is when I get my fat.   I always mix in an avocado with the soup or cut one up on salad.  Some nights, when I feel the need, I have 2 of them.

Ok, just wanted to make this a quick checkin.  I will be following this up with more on my current diet and what specifically I am eating, as well as what I’m up to in Costa Rica these days.  I hope the new year is going well for you, but if it isn’t remember that each day begins a new year.  Health and happiness to all of you.
